Here we go…first one for the year… a POP-Up mini-workshop!

‘Let’s Get Creative’          **CLOSED**

Tuesday 1st August 10am-2pm

Cost is $40 for 4 hours instruction, and includes some materials, tea, coffee… and cake!

This day is going to be perfect for anyone suffering fear of starting, or that other nasty…creative block!

Why this class? Because recently I’ve had a lot of conversations around the fear of getting started and/or wanting to be creative. But it seems a lot of the people I talk to are held back by an annoyingly persistent voice inside saying ‘no you can’t’! It makes me sad and I want to tell them not to listen to that imposter, to show them it’s not true! Truly…everyone has a creative side, it’s just a matter of giving it space to come out into the sunshine. So I’ve put together this mini-workshop so I can do just that!

Did you know that even accomplished artists can/or have suffered from both these things? But Artists know there are ways to push past these debilitating fears to get to the other side, where they are able to enjoy the benefits of flourishing creativity…. and that’s what I’d like to show you!

So why is it a Pop-Up? Well… it’s short-notice (but I found a gap in my diary and well… why wait! lol!) and because I would love to see more people benefiting from being creative sooner rather than later (hence a lower cost than usual as well).

So what do you think? Would you like to join me and a group of like-minded creative seekers in my studio and garden for a fun-filled 4 hours, discovering just how creative you can be? If that’s a YES… then hit the link below or call me on 0410 547 943 to reserve your place.

** A list of what to bring will be issued on registration.

Exploring Colour – 2 Days in the beautiful Blue Mountains NSW    *closed*

This is a big one – two full days of exploring colour!  This workshop is perfect for beginners or anyone who feels they could just be a little stronger in this area.

Topics include colour theory, mixing/matching colour, understanding colour as value, getting organised with colour, colour and emotions, making a stronger story through the use of colour, creating greater depth in your paintings via colour… and more!

Day 1 will lay the foundation of colour theory and touch on other aspects such as the psychology of colour.  You will learn how to mix and match colours, make colour choices and even how to get your palette organised… among other things.  By the end of the day you will have worked through a number of exercises designed to give you a good grasp of basic colour theory.

Day 2 introduces more advanced concepts and delves more deeply into the psychology of colour.  This is where we will put what we have learned into practise and look closely at how we can harness what we know to make stronger paintings.  By the end of the day you will have produced a number of small works and have explored/discussed many of the options open to you when planning your paintings.

Although I’ve used the words ‘colour theory’… I would like you to think of it more as your ‘colour practise’.  I know for some people the idea of learning ‘theory’ fills them with dread, whilst others fear that if they learn too much theory it might stifle their creativity!  It is my heartfelt intention to take the confusion and mystery out of colour for you.  It’s really not that scary and with a little understanding a whole new world of possibilities will open up.

This workshop is very hands on and though you will complete a number of exercises and small paintings over the two days, I would like to point out that the emphasis is purely on colour… not your drawing or painting skills!  So relax and come and have a whole new world opened up to you… as well as a bit of fun playing in paint! 🙂

Foundation Drawing 1 – Learning to ‘see’ and other useful things.  One day workshop – July 23rd 2016 *closed*

Please note… this workshop is popular with beginners and those wishing to refresh their basic drawing skills.  It is part of a series of one day workshops aimed at teaching the very basics of drawing and is an ideal class for beginners.  It is also the perfect solution for those who find attending weekly classes a challenge.

For these reasons I am more than happy to repeat this class throughout the year.  So if you think this class might suit you please call and I will add you to my list… we need a minimum of 4 and we will organise to run it at a time to suit.  Jen.

Would you like to learn to draw but don’t think you have time for a weekly commitment?  Then this one-day workshop could be perfect for you!

This is the first in a series of one day workshops which will run throughout the year, focusing on the fundamental skills needed to get you drawing like an artist.  Perfect for beginners and anyone who feels their drawing skills could use a bit of a brush up.

First up we address the biggest block of all to being able to draw well… learning to ‘see’ like an artist!  Through a series of exercises we will explore what ‘seeing’ like an artist actually means and why it is an important skill for being able to draw well.

We will also take a look at how to set up and get started as well as discuss the variety of media available to us, though we will be working primarily in pencil and charcoal.

Once you have these concepts under your belt you will be well on your way to being able to render what you ‘see’ and not what you ‘think’ you see!

Drawing really is the foundation of any artistic endeavour and the skills and principles learnt in this class will hold you in good stead no matter what your artistic direction later on.

Subsequent workshops in this series will build on from these foundational skills and lead us into ever more exciting explorations of drawing.

It is my aim to provide a time effective alternative to weekly classes and to show you that learning to draw can be a lot of fun.

So why not come along and let me show you how to let your creative genie out for a play!
