Master Landscape in Oil Paint:
Online Workshop for Beginners & Intermediate Painters
Finally I’m taking my teaching online…yay! So if you haven’t been able to come to an in person workshop, this is for you!
This isn’t going to be your average class though!
For these six weeks I want you to feel like you’re part of a community, where we’re all in this together… encouraging and helping to move each other forward.
The core of this class is a two hour live class (via zoom) each Tuesday night where I will give that weeks lesson.
But I don’t want you to feel alone in between classes, so I’m setting up a facebook group where we can come together to share and ask questions, and where I will add extra tips and other interesting arty things as well as be available to help you.
Recordings and resources will be posted in the group as well to make it a simple matter to catch up if you’re unable to make a session. Plus I’m happy to have a catch up chat if necessary.
On registration you will receive the materials list (I’m keeping it pretty simple but with options to expand) and I will be available to discuss, or even show you (via zoom call) what’s necessary and what not to worry about.
I love teaching and sharing what I know after nearly 50 years (yep, started young) of painting and I’d love to share it with you!
So if you’re keen to start painting or you already do but want to level up… follow the booking button (over there on the left) to the booking site or use the bank details below. I’m also happy to do payment plans… just reach out.
A bit more about the class…
Over the course of 6 weeks we’ll look at everything from go to whoa about landscape painting.
I will be demonstrating and sharing many tips, tricks and insights from my own art practise as well as providing some useful exercises to further enhance learning.
Each week another aspect of the process will be addressed as we work our way towards a completed landscape painting by the end.
I focus my teaching on best practise and there is absolutely NO need for oil painting to be the smelly, turpsy experience of the past!
Developing good habits has the added benefit of making your art journey so much more enjoyable and leading to higher satisfaction.
So join me as I demonstrate the ‘how’, explain the ‘why’ and assist you to make your own beautiful paintings.
By the end of our time together you will have a solid foundation to work from and, it is my hope, that I will have managed in some small way to inspire you to continue moving forward with your own explorations in paint of our amazingly beautiful landscape.
Topics covered include:-
– choosing art materials and preparation
– all about mediums, including alternatives to solvent (I paint solvent free and I can show you how too!)
– the role of drawing
– composition
– underpainting
– working in layers vs alla prima (all in one session)
– the importance of value/tone
– using a limited palette and how/when to extend it
– mixing colour and achieving the right value/tone
– brushwork
– lost and found edges, negative spaces and so much more!!
Also…
– Remember we have the Facebook group where recordings etc will be and you can ask questions between classes. So if you’re unable to make a class, there is no need to miss out. I know our schedules are often busy and things come up, so I want to make sure you will still get the benefit of all the lessons. PS. If you don’t have Facebook I will be available to chat during the six weeks and I will send a link to the recordings as well.
