The Joy of Landscape – oil painting

For so many of us just being in the landscape gives us a feeling of complete joy and wonder.  And if you’re like me, so much so that you’re moved to express it in paint as a means of connection to that landscape for yourself and maybe, for others.

Can you identify with this?  If so, then this workshop is for you!

Whether you’re a novice or someone with more experience, I’ll meet you where you’re at and we’ll enjoy two full days diving deep into what it takes to create a landscape painting that gives us joy and satisfaction.

Over these two days we’ll look at everything from go to whoa to produce a painting of your own.  I will be demonstrating and sharing many tips, tricks and insights from my own art practise as well as a few exercises to further enhance learning.

In particular, as a professional I’m passionate about safe studio practise and creating paintings that will stand the test of time.

I focus my teaching on best practise and there is absolutely no need for oil painting to be the smelly, turpsy experience of the past!

Developing good habits has the added benefit of making your art journey so much more enjoyable and also lead to higher satisfaction.

So come along and join me as I demonstrate the ‘how’, explain the ‘why’ and assist you to make your own beautiful painting.  By the end of our time together you will have a solid foundation to work from and, it is my hope, that I will have managed in some small way to inspire you to continue moving forward with your own explorations in paint of our amazingly beautiful landscape.

Location… this workshop will be held in the beautiful south coast town of Berry, which is approximately 2 hours from Sydney.  The village is a favourite weekend destination for many with it’s rolling green hills, fabulous food and wine and proximity to many of the Shoalhavens pristine beaches, bushwalks and other villages to explore.  There is plenty of accommodation nearby to suit a range of budgets.

The Wesley Hall is actually the original 1884 Wesleyan Church, which has been relocated and refurbished by the Berry Uniting Church.  It’s location in Albert Street is right in the heart of the village, so just a short stroll for cafes and shops.
