Pen, ink and watercolour wash holds a special place in my heart.  Pen and ink was probably the first ‘grown-up’ media I got my hands on when I was child.  Later when I had small children and unable to spend much time drawing or painting on location, I turned to small, quick, pen sketches and making colour notes with watercolour.  These quick drawings often became references for paintings.

Today I still enjoy pen drawings with watercolour wash, and often for the same reasons… only now it’s grandchildren!  Sometimes the drawings are more considered and produced in the studio purely for the enjoyment of the media.  At other times they are spontaneous and quickly produced on site.
