Foundation Drawing 1 – Learning to ‘see’ and other useful things.  One day workshop – March 12 2016

Want to learn to draw but don’t have time for a weekly commitment?  Then this one-day workshop could be perfect for you!

This is the first in a series of one day workshops which will run throughout the year, focusing on the fundamental skills needed to get you drawing like an artist.  Perfect for beginners and anyone who feels their drawing skills could use a bit of a brush up.

The first in this series will address the biggest block of all to being able to draw well… learning to ‘see’ like an artist!  Through a series of exercises we will explore what ‘seeing’ like an artist actually means and why it is so important to being able to draw well.   Once you have this concept under your belt you will be well on your way to being able to render what you ‘see’ and not what you ‘think’ you see!  We will also take a look at a number of issues that confront artists including the plethora of media and materials available to us… though on the day we will primarily be working in pencil and charcoal.

Drawing really is the foundation of any artistic endeavour and the skills and principles learnt in this class will also directly apply to any of the visual arts disciplines.

Subsequent workshops will build on from these foundational skills and lead us into ever more exciting explorations of drawing.

It is my aim to provide a time effective alternative to weekly classes and to show you that learning to draw can be a lot of fun.

So why not come along and let me show you how to let your creative genie out for a play!
