Date: Friday 13th December, 2024
Time: 9.30am – 11.30am
Cost: $45 (bring your own materials)
$50 (materials supplied)
** You will need to bring your phone or device to take photos to draw from so you will be able to enjoy your cuppa while it’s still hot!
If you’d like to bring your own materials, you will need:
Paper:- A5 would be a good size and it could be either a journal, sketchbook suitable for mixed media, watercolour pad or some loose watercolour paper. I like to use 300gsm but as long as it’s suitable for water media you’ll be fine.
Watercolours:- A selection of colours and a small palette. I like to use a travel size palette with pans of watercolours.
Pen:- There are a lot of different pens on the market today. For the most part I use technical pens. The main thing is to look for ink that is fade proof and waterproof. Fade proof if you want your drawing to last, and waterproof so it doesn’t bleed when you put watercolour over it. If I have only one pen I use either a Pigma Micron 05 or a UniPin 0.5. Both are easily found in Newsagents etc…
Brush:- A small round brush (usually somewhere around a size 4 – 6 would be great). If you have water filled brushes they’re great for their portability.
Other things you might like to have on hand:-
Pencil and eraser
Small spritz bottle for water (not essential)
A couple of sheets of paper towel.
If you have loose paper you may find it easier to do if you have something to lean on, it could even be just a stiff bit of cardboard cut just a bit bigger than your paper.
**the main thing is to keep everything portable and bear in mind you’ll be sitting at a table with your coffee and cake… so nothing too big!
PS If you’d prefer not to use watercolour and just sketch or use a dry medium like coloured pencil… that’s completely fine too!
