Suggested Materials List
Watercolours:- bring a selection of colours.
Pen(s):- There are a lot of different pens on the market today. for the most part I use technical pens. The main thing is to look for ink that is fade proof and waterproof. Fade proof if you want your drawing to last, and waterproof so it doesn’t bleed when you put watercolour over it. If I only have one pen I use either a Pigma Micron 05 or a UniPin 0.5. Both are easily found in Newsagents etc…
Brush:- A small to medium sized round brush (usually somewhere around a size 4 – 6 would be great).
Paper:- A5 is a great size for these drawings. Bring along either a 300gsm watercolour pad (cold or hot pressed) or you could buy a sheet or two of watercolour paper you could cut them down to size. Just make sure it’s 300gsm. 100% cotton is the best to work on but for this style, you could get by with some cheaper alternatives such as Fabriano Studio (25% cotton), Canson XL aquarelle and even Monte Marte 300gsm watercolour (it says it’s rough but it’s more like a cold pressed).
